A number of organisations encourage women empowerment through education at different levels by offering specific scholarships for African women from Africa and developing countries. Although women looking for scholarships can as well apply for other scholarship programmes that are non-gender specific, there are sponsorship programmes that reduce the competition by offering their scholarship programmes solely for women. MasterCard Foundation Scholarships Program at Wellesley College, USA
As part of the Scholars Program, Wellesley will provide nine (9) African women with comprehensive support that includes scholarships, mentoring, counseling, and internship opportunities. Scholars at Wellesley will build experiences, values, and competencies that are critical to success in the global economy, and that enable them to give back to their communities and home countries.

Forté Foundation offers fellowships to women who are pursuing a full-time, part-time or executive MBA education at participating business schools. Forté Foundation Fellowships are intended to increase the number of women applying to and enrolling in MBA programs. Students of all nationalities are eligible for consideration.
Global Fund for Women Grants
The Global Fund for Women supports women’s groups that advance the human rights of women and girls. The Organization strengthen women’s right groups based outside the United States by providing small, flexible, and timely grants ranging from $500 to $30,000 for operating and program expenses.
Applications are accepted throughout the year and grants awarded every three months.

2016 Türkiye Scholarships Applications

Application Duration

 

Applications for Türkiye Scholarships will be received by 29 February-31 March 2016. The application to Türkiye Scholarships programmes is online and totally free process. Applications delivered by hand or post will not be evaluated.

Candidates can apply only on one scholarship programme in accordance with their educational background and academic goals.

Türkiye Scholarships include both scholarship and university placement at the same time. Applicants will be placed in a university and programme among their preferences specified in the online application form.

Most programmes in Turkish universities are instructed in Turkish. However, some departments and universities offer programmes in English, French or Arabic. The candidates who want to study in these languages need to have an internationally recognized certificate to prove their language proficiency. Also, most of these foreign language programmes may ask international admission test scores such as GRE, GMAT, SAT etc. Candidates can check the language of instruction while selecting the programmes.

All Türkiye Scholarships winners who do not have C1 Level Certificate for Turkish Proficiency (including those who are placed into English, French or Arabic-taught programmes) must attend 1-year Turkish Preparatory Course.

Art and Sport Scholarship Programmes is specifically designed to encourage the skilled international students in the fields of art and sport to study at undergraduate, master or PhD (proficiency in art) degree levels in the prestigious Turkish universities with opportunities of Türkiye Scholarships. Applicants selected to be funded take one-year Turkish Language Course covered by scholarship. Subsequently, they have to receive an acceptance from the relevant faculties of Turkish universities. Applicants are expected to have documents (official certificate, portfolio, etc.) to prove their success in the field they apply for.

The Ebonyi State Ministry of Economic Empowerment and Job Creation announces the launch of 2016 Ebonyi YOUWIN program for Indegiens of Eboyi State.

The Program

Ebonyi YOUWIN is aimed at identifying Ebonyians with viable business ideas that can create employment for Ebonyians  the intention of training and empowering them with grants to start off and create a sustainable business.

Objective 

 The program is aimed at turning Ebonyi State from a Civil-service powered State, to an industrialized state with thriving businesses. This is in line with the vision of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the Ebonyi State, who has gone ahead to build the necessary infrastructure that will enable businesses to blossom in the State.

Eligibility & Coverage

1.       The participants will be an indigene and citizen of Ebonyi state.  

2.        The participant aged between 18-45 years Have a secondary education  and above.

3.       Have a proposed business idea that will operate in Ebonyi state and employ Ebonyi indigenes.

The business categories covered in this program include:

1. Rice Cultivation , Processing and sales
2. Palm oil production and processing
3. Cassava processing
4. Fishery and agriculture
5. Livestock farming/feed mill
6. Vegetation
7. Yam production
8. ICT
9. Leather work

 Application Modalities

The program is divided into four stages which every participant must pass through. These include:

  The first stage

This stage will be ON-LINE DATA REGISTRATION OF THE WOULD BE AWARDEES of the scheme. The applicants would go to the program website to apply for participation in the program. It will be open for state indigenes of the thirteen local Government areas who wish to participate.

The second stage

This stage will be COMPREHENSIVE BUSINESS PLAN SUBMISSION after which the marketing of the business plan starts, successful winners in the application will be invited for intensive business plan interview to bring out the best finalist and winners in the competition.

The third stage

The best finalist and award winners in the interview will be invited for a 2-day intensive business development training and after which an MOU will be assigned between the Ebonyi state Government and the Awardees for proper implementation of the scheme.

The awardees will win a grant depending on their business needs.

The final stage

The disbursed funds will be in three batches to the successful beneficiaries. The Ministry in partnership with SMEDAN will effectively monitor them and mentor them to ensure that the fund given to them is judiciously used for the set purpose. There is need for proper monitoring at this stage to avoid mismanagement of the fund and overall let down of the goal of the government in embarking on this scheme.

Newcastle University UK International Foundation Scholarships 2016/2017 Academic Session

We are proud to announce a number scholarships for a variety of International Foundation programmes, created to assist international fee-paying students who need to complete a foundation programme before enrolling on a Newcastle University undergraduate degree.

International Foundation Scholarships

There are 10 100% International Foundation scholarships available for gifted students starting in September 2016 and January 2017. Scholarship applicants must already hold an offer to study at INTO Newcastle University.

The scholarships are for the following programmes:

• International Foundation in Architecture
• International Foundation in Business and Management
• International Foundation in Humanities and Social Sciences
• International Foundation in Physical Sciences and Engineering
• International Foundation in Biological and Biomedical Sciences

Each scholarship is to the value of £17,500, or £17,900 for the Architecture pathway. The first half of the scholarship, £8,750 (£8,950 for Architecture) will be deducted from your International Foundation tuition fees. Upon successful completion (and subject to achieving specified grades for entry), scholarship students entering degree programmes at Newcastle University as international students will receive a further scholarship valued at £8,750 (£8,950 for Architecture), towards Year 1 tuition fees.

International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships
Newcastle University also rewards the academic performance of INTO Foundation students, with £1,500 scholarships for the first year of study on any undergraduate degree programme at Newcastle University. There are an unlimited number available, and in 2014 we made 124 awards.
To qualify for these awards you must:

• (if applying to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences [HaSS] and the Medical School) achieve 73% overall Academic Weighted Average, and a minimum English for Academic Purposes module of 65, or
• (if applying to the Faculty of Science Agriculture and Engineering [SAgE]) achieve 70% overall Academic Weighted Average, and a minimum English for Academic Purposes module of 65,
• have applied through UCAS and been offered a place on an undergraduate degree programme at Newcastle University for entry in September 2017, AND accepted Newcastle University as your first or firm choice university,
• be assessed as international/overseas for fee-paying purposes.

Sponsored students, and those who have received other scholarships, are not eligible for International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships.

Apply for 2016 Sussex University Scholarship Award for Nigerian Students

As part of a wider initiative to invest in excellence, the University of Sussex is delighted to offer scholarships to overseas fee paying students from Nigeria admitted to start an eligible Masters course in September 2016.
The scholarship is worth £3,000 for applicants that meet the eligibility criteria and will be awarded as a fee reduction upon registering at Sussex.
For applicants holding/expecting to achieve a First Class degree, equivalent to a British Bachelors Honours degree from a Higher Education Institution in Nigeria, the award will automatically be enhanced to £5,000.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a scholarship you must be a national of Nigeria, be a self-financing student and have accepted an offer of a full-time place on a Masters course at the University of Sussex commencing in September 2016. You must meet the published academic requirements for your chosen course. If your offer of a place is conditional you will need to meet the conditions of your offer before you are admitted to the University and awarded the scholarship. To receive the enhanced award, you will be required to provide evidence of your First Class degree from a recognised institution in Nigeria.
The scholarships relate to all full-time taught Masters degree courses at the University of Sussex (e.g. MA, MSc, LLM. MRes) excluding the following courses:

• Postgraduate diplomas
• Graduate Entry LLB
• Common Professional Examination (CPE)/Graduate Diploma in Law
• Graduate Diploma in Economics
• Masters degrees in Social Work
• Social Work post qualifying Masters degrees
• PGCE courses and schools direct teaching courses
• MSc Automotive Engineering
• Master of Education (two years part-time)
• MA degrees in IDS apart from the MA Gender
• Pre-Masters degrees and diplomas taught at partner colleges which are validated by Sussex.

The scholarship is available only to self-financing students. If your tuition fees are funded by an external funding body you will not be eligible to receive the scholarship.
The scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship funded by the University of Sussex. If you have been offered any other Sussex scholarship and wish to accept this award, you will need to decline the other scholarship or vice versa.

Application procedure

You must apply for admission to an eligible Masters course via the University's PG Apply online application system. If you are made an offer of a place, there will be an online scholarship declaration on PG Apply as part of the acceptance process. You must submit this declaration by 1 August 2016 in order to receive the scholarship.
The scholarship will be awarded automatically as a tuition fee reduction to eligible students upon enrolment at the University of Sussex.
Scholarship information will be included in your CAS for your visa, so please register your interest in the scholarship before you receive your CAS from the Admissions Office. Holland Scholarship Opportunities for Internationals students 2016/2017 – Bachelors & Masters

Holland Scholarship

The Holland Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as several Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. This scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor’s or master’s in the Netherlands.

Eligibility

To apply for these scholarships, you must:

• Be a citizen of a developing Commonwealth country, refugee, or British protected person
• Be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country
• Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard. A lower qualification and sufficient relevant experience may be considered in certain cases
